Restoring Sunday Mornings

Paige Findley - January 03, 2018

I'm grateful the Lord provided an opportunity this past Sunday morning for the South Church family to think about the "Fuel, Flame & Fire" of our faith as we enter 2018.

Church Sunday Everyday

The sermon began with a word from Jeremiah 20.9:

If I say, “I will not mention him, or speak any more in his name,” there is in my heart as it were a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I am weary with holding it in, and I cannot.

From there we took a few minutes to consider the most easily overlooked of South Church's three ministries: SUSTAIN. What a difference a little Scripture & prayer can make in our daily lives. Truly these two simple disciplines are great supply-lines for the Fuel our faith depends upon.

From there we considered the importance of corporate fellowship on Sunday mornings: PROCLAIM! We'll never be on fire without the fuel of God's Word, but if that fuel never meets a flame—a source of ignition, it'll never be set ablaze.

On Sunday mornings we worship through Song, Sermon, Supplication, Support & the Lord's Supper--all centered upon the Flame of God's Word explained.

How do we live what we're learning?

The purpose of Sustain's Fuel & Proclaim's Flame is setting our faith on Fire! RESTORE provides the fellowship we need to help us Grow In Truth, Live On Mission, and Share Life Together.

We currently have three Restore families meeting in host homes: Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday. Since our beginning, some have wanted to Restore on Sunday mornings. Through God's provision of Suite 100, we now have the perfect space!

But do we have enough interested in "Restoring Sunday mornings"? If you think so, join leader Kory Pomykal this Sunday, January 7, 9:15am at Suite 100, in the classroom nearest the kitchen. Children are welcome. If a need for childcare becomes evident down the road, we are prayerful & hopeful the Lord will provide.

Pray On!

Please continue praying for one another & for our leadership as we seek to steward well the Lord's gift of Suite 100.
