"Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord! Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!" -Luke 19.38

This Sunday is Palm Sunday. We will be celebrating the coming of our King and echoing the crying out of the Jews, "Hosanna!" (Save us now!) The Israelites didn't realize how exactly right their declaration was at the time. The evidence is in the cross but... the fulfillment of prophecy was in their words.

Save us, we pray, O Lord! O Lord, we pray, give us success! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! We bless you from the house of the Lord. -Psalm 118.25-26

Save us (Hosanna), we pray, O Lord! They believe, and are declaring as much, that Jesus is the coming King, the Messiah, the One they have been waiting for. The pharisees understood what was going on. Luke tells us that they told Jesus to rebuke His disciples for it. Jesus' reply even magnifies how true it was.

He answered, "I tell you, if these were silent, the very stones would cry out." -Luke 19.40

The Truth was going to be declared, and it was going to be declared then and there. God ordained it and He is Sovereign to bring it to pass. The people believed it, and yet days later they cried: "Crucify Him!"

Not my King

Rather than the conquering King on a warhorse they all wanted, they got a meek, gentle one on a donkey. "This is not my King!" Have you ever heard that? "That's not my Jesus!" God doesn't submit to their agenda for them so they create their own. Maybe this was you. Maybe this is you. It was me, and praise be to God for giving me eyes to see! The Jews missed it. Even the detail of the donkey was prophecy of the coming King.

Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout aloud, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your king is coming to you; righteous and having salvation is he, humble and mounted on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey. -Zechariah 9.9

Salvation Has Come

So right they were, in fact, that they were partaking in a foreshadowing of the worship of our blessed King in glory with the Father! This was only a glimpse of the real thing!

After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands, and crying out with a loud voice, "Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!" -Revelation 7.9-10

No longer do they cry out, "Hosanna," (save us) but, "Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!" SALVATION HAS COME! Christ is our salvation, our Blessed King. Save us O Lord, Indeed you have! O worship the King for He has come, and is most worthy of our praise!

Eager to worship with you,
